Abstract

Friendly relations and cooperation between nations and peoples are based on mutual knowledge, understanding, and caring
about each other’s history and culture. The Library of Foreign Literature holdings present printed documents of a wide thematic,
linguistic and chronological range, revealing to modern readers and researchers in Russia and around the world the cultural and
historical heritage of Armenia. Unique polyphonic cross-cultural intersections of epochs, languages, and human destinies can be traced from some specimens. For example, the Rare Book and Collection Centre has a work published in Paris in 1844 about the national uprising of Christian Armenia in the 5th century, translated into French in the Armenian academy in Venice, with an ex libris that belonged to Knyaz V. Odoyevsky, the author of the well-known fairy tale “Town in Tabakerque,” whose activities at certain times were connected with the Imperial Public Library.
