At the beginning of the last century, Hagop Oshagan
published his stories, illustrations and articles in “Tchakatamart”
daily newspaper of Constantinople (1911-1924). Here, the writer
expressed his preference for thinking in the series’ “When they are
small,” “When they are young” and others.
On this occasion, we would like to highlight the significant
artistic commitment that he undertook towards the First World
War, which became a permanent thought under the title “Kayserakan
Haghtergutiun” (Imperial Song of Triumph) (1920),
clearly highlighting the anti-Armenian role of the German Empire.
It’s needless to mention that until the anniversary edition of 1983,
“Tchakatamart” essentially preserved the primary national-political
significance of the heritage. Today, “Tchakatamart” remains
the only source on the way to retrieving the literary and cultural
heritage of Oshagan.
