Abstract

There are many authors of world literature who did not complete their education in universities or even schools, but who instead read books to help them attain a high level of self-education. Their works then had a significant influence on educating society with their literary heritage. Hovhannes Tumanyan was among them. This is supported by the fact that he grew his own library from 3 to 10.000 books. His book selections reveal the author’s artistic preferences and suggest a variety of scientific interests that can be used to educate any society. Books served as Tumanyan’s main source of creative inspiration. He is one of few authors to write a poem in honor of his library, inspiring future generations to value and adore reading.

  • SUSANNA HOVHANNISYAN , Institute of Literature after M. Abeghyan NAS RA

    Susanna Hovhannisyan is a Leading Researcher of the Institute of Literature after M. Abeghyan of NAS RA, Associate Professor and Literary Critic. Her research articles have been published since 1981. 
    She has published 15 monographs in Armenian, Russian and English, and more than 400 articles in bulgarian, latvian, persian and other languages in the Republic of Armenia, Canada, Italy, 
    Austria, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, and Latvia. Hovhannisyan has participated in many international and national conferences. She was recognized as a winner of “The Best 100 of RA” high-achieving researchers competition (for the year 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021.) 
    She is also a laureate of the international literary competition after N. Gogol. She was awarded the titles of “Best Teacher,” (Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinematography), “Best Head of the Department,” and was a recipient of titles, awards, medals and the Prize of the President of the Republic of Armenia in 2020
