Abstract

In the era of complete dominance of online communication and social networks, it is vital to strengthen the reading skills of today’s youth. Future specialists should receive not only professional education in higher education institutions but also instruction on how to intentionally and effectively deal with texts of varied levels of complexity. The Siberian Institute of Management’s book club, which was implemented two years ago to develop students’ reading will be presented.  The discussion covers the book club experience and the practical benefits for developing student’s reading and linguo-rhetorical skills in the field of literary text interpretation and analysis, storytelling and creation of relevant secondary texts of different genre registers based on the questions posed.

  • NATALIA OTURGASHEVA, The Siberian Institute of Management

    Natalya Oturgasheva works at the Department of International Relations and Humanitarian Cooperation of the Siberian Institute of Management, a branch of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of 
    the Russian Federation. She is the author of hundred articles and more than ten textbooks on cultural studies, rhetoric, history of world literature and art.
