The presentation is about the owners of Russian private libraries in Turkestan in the late XIX and early XX centuries who made significant contributions to the establishment of the first European style public library on the territory of current Uzbekistan. It includes snippets of the activities of the owners of Russian collections and from their biographies during their time serving in the Turkestan region. The presentation also discusses the unique characteristics of the development of Russian private libraries, as well as the creation and development of bibliographic collections in the Turkestan region from the end of the XIX century to the beginning of XXI century, the various markings on private book collections, the placement of stamps as ownership symbols on books, etc. Discussions will be held regarding the demand for collections of personal origins among researchers, librarians, bibliographers, readers, users, etc.
