THE STATUTE OF THE NERSISIAN SCHOOL

Abstract

Significant progress was recorded in the establishment of the Eastern Armenian school in the years 1820-1860. The Nersisyan Spiritual School made an irreplaceable contribution to that work. This study is dedicated to the history of the creation and implementation of the charter of the Nersisyan Spiritual School.
Nerses Ashtarakets‘I, thought of having such a statute that would always serve to meet the demands of the teaching staff and students. Although a charter he wrote at the time would best serve that purpose. The charter of the school was revised many times in the 1860s and was only approved in 1864.
