INTERNET TECHNOLOGIES IN THE WORK OF PUBLIC LIBRARIES: ANALYSIS OF PRACTICE

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to introduce into the scientific circulation the results of a research work of the Russian State Library (RSL) with the aim to study use of Internet technologies in the work of public libraries. As result of the research, the main directions of internetization of librarianship were identified and the problems hindering the development of this process were listed. Special attention in the course of the study was paid to the analysis of development of remote user service.
